Like its 1981 NZ feature film namesake, Christchurch’s latest “pop-up” bar is a rough diamond that has triumphed over adversity and is destined to become a local classic.
Smash Palace draws together the best of retro Kiwi style and no. 8 wire mentality (aka Kiwi ingenuity), transforming the recently empty lot on the Bealey Ave – Victoria Street corner into a colourful, chilled out space. Perfect for catching-up with friends over an Emerson’s Pilsner, chip and HP sauce buttie, and open fire – alfresco style.
So head along to the bus after 4pm for an excellent craft beer, great tunes and something from The Greasy Spoon menu, or check out Rosie’s caravan café, Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm. In true Smash Palace style, there is also a motorbike workshop on Thursdays.
